In my future house, I want every facet of it to be tied to my values.
I am sure if I do that it will make things a lot harder, but that is what I strive for - Correctness over convenience.
All of the infrastructure, the whole system of the land.
I want to be able to live from the land.
If the neighbouring farms also have harvests or livestock I would happily buy directly from them - mainly dairy. But on my little farming area I'd have the basics.
I want some space to host family events in my home, as well as for my children to play but it doesn't need to be too big.
Other than the previously mentioned harvest, I'd like to have a pleasant little flower garden space. Where I can also grow some medicinal plants such as: Aloe Vera, Calendula, Chamomile, Lemon Balm, Echinacea, Peppermint, and more...
I don't like very much the idea of a clorine kept pool... I've seen a project which is a sort of organic pool that I found interesting. But other than that, I'd like to have a fish pond for eating fish, which is something I really want. I like fish and I think it's the best meat.
I don't feel very strongly about this, I just like the idea. Gazebos are cool.
I find this essential for food as well. Having eggs and chicken meat. I must be sure to keep the chickens healthy and well fed. We are what we eat.
This is a bit complicated and I'll have to study a bit. But the main idea is:
2-3 bins for composting (one active, one curing). Include kitchen scraps, garden waste, chicken manure.
Also keep a Worm Bin, produce premium fertilizer for garden beds.
I'll need to study up this one as well. It will run the circulation system for the organic pool as well as other simple electrical necessities such as the shower, the blender, and the stove I suppose.
I'm not sure if I'll use the electrical system provided by the electrical companies of the area, but I would prefer not to.
I'll get some batteries and other forms of generating my own electricity. I won't need too much of it, I think (not sure if it's that simple - it probably isn't).
Another luxury I'd like to give myself, a pleasant little place with a rocking chair where I can play guitar and take in the view.
I don't have a very defined idea of how the house will be but I want it to be well ventilated, perhaps with a patio and made with adobe.
A place for receiving the guests and for conversations. With a piano and other musical instruments would be nice. A little table for offering snacks. A mildly decorated room, with a comfortable atmosphere.
It will be the main room for listening to music, with a sound system - cd/cassete player and a turntable, along with a collection of physical media music (which I also don't feel very strongly about, mp3s will do for me - I'm just going all out here).
A big and 'dumb' TV (just a monitor) with a linux machine.
Bluetooth controllers for playing emulated games. A DVD/Bluray drive for watching movies (either originals or flashed torrented films, lol - I value the experience of having physical media).
And a good sound system (home theater).
The place where I keep books, computers, read, study, do my projects.
This also doubles as a music studio, hopefully. With sound insulation, recording equipment and instruments.
Since I'm prioritizing fresh eating and low energy consumption I would prefer not using a fridge. I will try to use more ancient technolgies for storing and for keeping food cool. Such as a clay refrigerator like Mitticool, average clay water filter as well as other food preservations solutions that I'll be studying further.
LPG is a byproduct of petroleum and shouldn't be so expensive I believe... it's also quite unnatural, but I'm also not a fan of burning firewood for every meal. So I think I will have a microwave oven, a LPG oven (for rarer occasions), an induction cooktop and a firewood stove.
This is where I'll sound the most loony...
I don't want to have a sewer under my house. It's kinda disgusting and bad for the soil. Rather, taking the natural approuch, I want to dry it. That is how it works on nature you know? Animals take a shit somewhere, and the sun dries it. I'm not yet sure how the system will work, but every shit taken will be transported to a separate place where it will be treated so it doesn't stay moist and isn't infested with deseaseful microbes. Will still need to study that further too.
As for the shower, I understand some people will never cease to use their average shampoos, so I'll probably make like a japanese bath so the place where people wash their hair and body is separate from the tub. I'll use plants and natural aromas to keep the smell and atmosphere fresh in the bathrooms.
Not much to say about this. I guess each tenant will get a say about their rooms.
